Accelerate hosting over this weekend only?

It has been asked if we could run host this weekend, starting this Thursday and running every day until the following weekend. 9 days in a row!

Look, its not like its turn 29 or anything. Pre turn 10 is pretty much the same for everyone, I believe. Of course, I am playing with the Varsity Team now, so maybe not... I still say we should hit it. It takes like 5 - 10 mins to do an RST and that includes opening Echo View and trying to divine who is where.

Sunday would be the only difficult day for me.

Because of the ease and quickness most early turns take to do, the game was originally proposed to run M-T-W-T-F, for two weeks before dropping back to M-W-F.

We modified this because of Baer's trip. Running host this weekend would make up for the two days lost. I had intended to go back to M-T-W-T-F for one week starting next Monday.

But, all it takes is 1 vote to stop host running this weekend. SR has already indicated a problem with Sunday. So, we are now voting on T-F-S break M-T-W-T-F break / continuing M-W-F until as a group we decide to change it again.

Just did the first (and shurely *not* the last) severe mistake. And only needed one second to do so. Not "minutes"! Maybe I'm getting old.

I've made an error already too. However, it only took a second to do it, but waiting around 3 days to discover it didn't improve matters. It still took me actually seeing the result before I realized the mistake.

So, in my case, the speed of hosting wouldn't have made any difference.

Two votes against, the last time I looked, means no weekend host. I plan to run M-T-W-T-F next week unless someone tells me that is a problem. The following week we will drop back to M-W-F.

Actually, weekends are better for me than weekdays. Once we get a number of turns finished I know we will not be doing them every day so if we end up running, say.... three turns a week at some point, I would like one of the turns to be on the weekend.

I plan on some (mainly weekend) camping trips this summer. So, weekends are bad for me. Even so, I may be missing a few turns. I'm hoping on hooking up with an ally that can cover for me by then. It would be different if I were traveling or staying in or even around any kind of net connections. But, the trees and rocks around the areas I will be in are a little shy of that kind of connectivity.

Yeah, I understand :-) Smart phones do not do VGAP well :-)
BTW, is anyone running VGAP with WIn-7 yet? The only Xp machine I have left is an older notebook which I use to play VGAP on. I am about to transition my various computers to Win 7 RC and keep one on Vista but I am soon dumping Xp.

I know W7 has an XP Mode. I'll bet VGAP will work OK that way.

As for me, I'm getting tired of MS coming out with a new OS every 3 years that takes more resources to run fewer applications. Nor, do I know of anything W7 will do that XP does not. At least anything I might want to do.

Of course, I was not happy with giving up DOS. I guess I'm just an old Luddite at heart.

When I have to use Xp I feel deprived. I can go on and on about the features, the upgraded search, the supperior networking and VPN Etc in Vista, but then I am running Vista on an overclocked QX6700 with 4 Gb RAM and Raptors in RAid 0 Etc. so I never really saw a slowdown.
Now with Win 7 RC running on my i7 920 OCed to 3.6 Ghz running on Veloci-Raptors in Raid-0 and 6 Gb of Dom GT DDR3 and a GTX 285 OCed Etc, test rig.
it really screams. From off to windows stable in 11 to 12 seconds and full shutdown in 6 seconds. Apps open in a blink. Lots more than I will bother listing here.
Xp was great in its time but the code is last century.

I have long felt that while Microsoft gave millions the use of the computer, they simultaneously removed the computer from the user. I remember being able to do far more with the files in DOS that I could ever do in a Winbox. And forget the Forbidden Fruit computers. Someone once told me that a monkey could set it up out of the box and get it running. I commented that only a monkey would want to.

And as you will remember, it took me hitting a Royal Flush in a Lake Tahoe bar for me to pony up the cash to jump from the 286 to - what was it? 386 or 486?? T don't remember now, but true all the same.

And now, after many MS classes and tests to become qualified to be a Network Administrator, I still hate MS for dragging me into the future. Brave New World indeed!
