VPA Who knows? Empty VPA Who knows?

Post  Malo Sat May 09, 2009 10:26 pm

Is anyone (or has anyone used) playing with VPA? As most of you know, I'm a Luddite and have played forever with the original VGAP Dos version. I know, I'm sorry. Still, I'm trying to move forward. So, I'm trying to play this game in VPA and it's taking me a lot more time than usual to get the turns in. If anyone has a few tips, they'd be appreciated. If you have sympathy, I'm surprised. If you have advice, well, what the hell, it may be good or not, but I'm asking. If you're confused, so am I.

VPA Who knows? Empty Luddites Unite!

Post  Red Mule Sun May 10, 2009 10:59 am

Malo,

You're even better than I am at being a Luddite!

I've never tried VPA, but I know very many do use it and even prefer it to Winplan. But, since I'm used to Winplan now, I'm too much of a Luddite to go and learn VPA. If it give you too much of a problem, you can always buy Winplan.

I recently had to install Winplan on a new computer and found my old disc was damaged. So I bought a digital only (no disc) version for $15 that was emailed to me the same day from http://www.warshed.com/ .

Just a thought.

Yeah, Mule, I bought Winplan a long time ago but just never could get to like it. Looks like VPA has a learning curve but is going to be pretty cool.

VPA Who knows? Empty Learning...

Post  the elder one Tue May 12, 2009 1:45 am

Salut,

now I've learned what's a luddite (thanks to "leo-dict"...)

I'm playing with VPA 3.62. Yes it's a drag. Sometimes. But trying to install winplan - hum Embarassed Did I mention, that I'm no close friend to microsoft at all?

The VPA-features of marking nearly anything at the map and give a notice to it (best for the forgetful elder ones!) are extremely useful. (Dunno the winplan features).
The only calculate modul of VPA I really need, is the predection of the minefield development.

If you got a special question, please write me a mail (or post). I'd like to help you.

Hi Gert,

Thanks for your offer to advise on VPA. I do have a couple of questions.

What's your email address? Please respond to jim@jimclayton.us so this can be
discussed away from all these rogues on this forum. Who knows, they might even use
my ignorance against me? Everyone else does. :-)

VPA Who knows? Empty Email?

Post  the elder one Sat Jun 13, 2009 8:12 am

Salut Jim,

at your last email I've tried two times to reply. Both times the reply was rejected ("...access ... denied.")
hum.

@ VPA: what machine you're using?
(my [elder] sony laptop can't display the specific character types of VPA - e.g. Maybe there's a screening problem.]

@ game: won't be explored ... continuing to head east at your own risk (not to great, as with PHost [f...] that's *me* getting the casualitis...)

Best wishes, t.e.o. aka Gert
