YELLOW ALERT
We had our first Yellow Alert, so I thought I'd provide what (little) information I have.
This is generally not a cause for alarm.
Often it will be accompanied or followed with something like the following:
WARNING: Player 1 has illegal beam number or type in build order on base 497!
WARNING: Invalid ship build order at base 497. Order cancelled.
WARNING: Status of player1.trn is YELLOW !
WARNING: player1.trn : Yellow Alert
All commands that could cause this alert have been deleted.
In this case, I think the player tried to put the wrong beam on a ship being built.
-------
I have also found the following suggestions from the PS forum about what can cause a Yellow Alert.
>It means you tried to do something which is not allowed (for example: try to intercept a ship you don't see), but PHost was able to back it out. You'll be told what's wrong when you upload your turn through the web upload.
>It is my understanding that a yellow alert is given when you try and do something that goes against the settings for the game. As an example...The game that I am currently playing allows extended missions only after turn 20. When anyone tries to use an extended mission before this turn they would get a yellow alert. The Yellow alert does not stop the turn from being used but is just a warning.
>Generally, yellow alerts are only "smaller" errors. PHost corrects your turn file to make the error not happen.
>I had a few yellow alert in my time.
1) make sure you have the right shiplist! (In this directory)
2) try taking your turn again (unpacking a new turn)- programs such as VPA sometimes makes mistakes - all of the sudden you have lost X cargo somewhere
3) upload your turn instead of sending it pr. email - then you can see if it bad right away.
>Having less beams on your ship than is possible (like 1 beam on a Gorbie.)
Hope that helps.

Re: YELLOW ALERT
It always amazes me when an alert goes off and the klaxon starts wailing on the bridge. Who the hell can think straight when that damn thing is screaming in your ear?
And just how do you put a wrong beam on a ship? Well, I have not used VPA so, maybe I am missing something.

wrong building?
Salut,
beside exploding-Pet - VPA isn't able to build "wrong" ships. the only cause maybe if you try to superrefit AND to build a new ship. That works, but you must manage the components properly.
Indeed: Uploading to the planetsserver shows you the complete turncheck of the host program. That's a good idea.

Re: YELLOW ALERT
Never having seen a VPA panel, I don't know how different it is from Winplan. But, I have heard before that you are more likely to get Yellow Alerts when using them. In our game's case, it wasn't the Fed that got the warning, so I doubt if it was a refit issue. What I don't know is if he uses VPA or Winplan. Unless he gets another warning, it probably doesn't matter anyway.

Re: YELLOW ALERT
I must say, I was seeing red, not yellow, when I found out that my Starbase+ commands didn't work. I was hoping to move some cash about, but noooooo....
Had me swearing for a good 20 minutes. Then I realized that I will just have to kill everyone. Then I was much better.
Now I wish I hadn't tossed all my machines back in Dec for the tax write off. I could have built a very nice dos machine and played Priv and Questron without all those dang emulators. Get back to basics with a 2.1 ghz, 2gb RAM, 250gb HDD and a flat panel monitor. Back to what it was all about... fighting to get Aces Over The Pacific and Wings of the Luftwaffe to run on 612K. Gives me chills just thinking about that.

Re: YELLOW ALERT
Starbase Plus had to be manually inserted at the Host level. I will ask them to check on this.

new AddOn?
But please... not in the current game.
Wouldn't we play an old fashioned game?
Starbase+ is a nice feature, I like it. But I don't remember it's set up in the (discussed) starting configuration of the redux-game.
Pardon me, if I misunderstood the message
Best regards, t.e.o.
