Re: BEER?
I can't speak for Petrock, but...
In my experience there is the expensive Micro-brewery Red Beer.
And then there is the cheap beer with tomato juice., of which in years past I had a passing acquaintance with. Naturally, I'm reformed now...

Hey pal,
PBR (Pabst Blue Ribbon) may be cheap beer... uh... yeah. It's cheap beer, but lordy does it taste good on a hot day fresh from the tap.

Philistine?!?
Effeminate beer snob, listen up. PBR cold from the tap is better than most. Of course, anything from the tap is going to be better than most bottled beer. Like how Pepsi/Coke/you-name-it tastes better from the fountain than canned. Anything with fizz.

Salut,
I just wrote the perfect answer to Petrock - but then I've got a message that another reply came in. Later, after sending my posting, it was vanished. Whereever.
Sorry for you, folks. I don't remember all details...

Yes on tap is how beer was meant to be consumed. BUT I am firmly in the Aussie camp when I reject the sex in a canoe beer we have here. PBR is a atrocity, a crime against man AND nature.
Yes I would drink it or almost any beer on a hot day.
And you are no an effeminate beer snob until you start drinking Fruit beer.....

Hah!! Now I remember some details of my lost posting.
I was reflecting, if drinking such stuff as described above would explain Petrocks tendency to explode.
Fruits ... lemon ...industrial ... oh dear...
In ol' Europe we only make a difference on blonde or black. (And another 4000 variations of brewing methods, hum). Beside of England's ale - but England is not Europe. And Irish Guiness... ok, it works, if you love to throw dwarfs, ahem darts.
And beside of Bavaria and Berlin - but that's not Europe, too.
The other 4000 sorts from Belgium (and 4000 from the Tzechei) don't matter in the moment due to the lack of space here.
Alas ... red beer? Something to light with a fire?
Let's talk about *orange* beer - that's brewed in a special way and malt(ed?) over beech tree wood. 'Ducksteiner' is the name, I believe (I'm drinking, not reading it). Orange is the colour - but nothing chemical at all. Just brewed due to the German requirement law.
[That's a myth like all those laws. But it sounds good.]
After all I agree totally with you all: served on tap is best (and it's not fair to throw in a hot day - only to improve bad quality )
Well, personally I prefer the dark beer from Andechs. It's an old Bavarian monastery (founded in ancien times, when Bavaria still belongs to Europe...); the monks forever knew how to brew, hehehe.
Here in France I'm taking Pelfort Brune. Only on bottles, and more expensive than a good red wine. Bottles with 250 cl - do you believe this? (The 1 l - bottles in relation are more expensive. Glass isn't worth too much in France - it's just to be thrown away...) Pelfort belonged to Germany (or the center of Europe) in former times - then they learned how to make a good beer. And they learned to make an outrageous price, too.
Hum, back to the game
Sorry for getting 50 worlds. It's not forever. It's just the elder one, elder than this universe. He knows all the stars; they giving him a warm welcome. But as I know you guys (and grrrls - the bad ones), you'll soon arrive and claim your part.
Try. But bring some things along to have fun. Exploding fun e.g.

I really should start a beer thread!
The Andechs Monastery, just south of Munich? Ah.... Liquid Ambrosia - Middle-earth's favorite. With a little pork and pretzel and good company. I remember it well!
But, then again, I also remember no-name (maybe I was just to happy to ask) beers warmed on little wood stoves in out of the way beer gardens in celebration of Oktoberfest too. Most Americans don't appreciate the taste of a slightly warmed German beer on a cold European night, but I do.
Not to say I don't also appreciate a icy cold brew on a hot forth of July.

Re: BEER?
Let's not forget that we have more than one lady in this game, guys. Although, it is true that most of us look better to them in direct proportion to the alcohol we can induce them to consume. Hence, the old offer, "Can I buy you a drink?"
And if you don't know who is who, I'll just let you wonder.

Where we are?
Salut,
a new thread? We better call it "pick-up attempts", don't we?
What a circuit: from starbase+ -> beer -> ladies.
At least it sounds logical
t.e.o.
(my pick-ups are always: "did you ever play 'planets'?") hehehe
[ok, correction: I'm a passionate roleplay-gamer, too. So I got a second option.]

I don't know... I knew some sorority girls back in college... the phrase "Not if you were the only man left in the world..." was heard more than once.

You will see I am attempting to seize some control over the wild and crazy characters that post beer posts under Starbase Plus topic.

may be... but if there're not enough players to complete a planets game (or build a role player group), the argument above isn't such strong.
(Otherwise you could change the topic like this: "oh, to be the only *man* could be rearranged easily" - for details ask Petrock)

Re: BEER?
Good gravy...
We can share the beer.....
Pax and MRJ can out cuss and out drink the crew of the Churchill. Likewise I don't think Sandy will mind, unless of course we get too pedantic.

Re: BEER?
When I was a little kid
I never liked to eat
Mom would put things on my plate
And I'd dump 'em on her feet
But then one day she made this soup
I ate it all in bed
I asked her what she put in it
And this is what she said:
"Oh, lizard lips and lizard hips
And alligator eyes
lizard legs and lizard eggs
And salamander thighs
lizard ears and lizard rears
And tasty lizard pies
Stir 'em all together
And it's lizard soup surprise"
